Champion of the Universe

I'll be the first to admit that my Flyers played like a bunch of suckysucks this year. Read my "Thank You" entry i sent out during christmas.

But I sincerely believe that the Canucks have won me back as a fan.

True, I've tried to say this to my friends, but they all cut me off, perhaps it's the beer in them. But I was losing my interest in the team during the past few seasons due to their gameplay. The all-offense and fancy playing styles didn't interest me fully. I've always been a fan of solid defence.

And last night's game proved that.
Missing two of their top defencemen, vancouver still managed to keep the Predators (the top team in the western conference) to twenty shots and won 2-0.

This is my kind of hockey. This is the gameplay that wins championships.

Yet truthfully, superstition supercedes this all

the canucks entered the NHL in 1970, along with the buffalo sabres

12 years later, they played in the stanley cup finals against the new york islanders and lost 4 straight

12 years after that, they played the new york rangers in the stanley cup finals and lost in game 7 (june 14, 1994.... i cried)

sure it's 2007, but we must remember that one season was cancelled due to the lockout

hence, it has been 12 seasons after the '94 playoffs.

who best for us to play against, than the third new york team
the vancouver canucks will meet the buffalo sabres in the finals for lord stanley's cup.... and win!
